Comprehensive Eye Examinations

Our thorough eye examinations, conducted by our Optometrists, involve a series of advanced tests to accurately assess your visual acuity and detect any potential eye conditions early.

Below are the key components of our comprehensive eye examinations:

1. Prescription Examination

This test evaluates your visual acuity and determines your prescription for glasses or contact lenses.

By using a series of lenses, our Optometrists will help identify the best prescription to enhance your clarity for both near and far distances.

2. Front Eye Examination

During this examination, our Optometrists assess the surface of your eyes, including the eyelids, cornea and conjunctiva, using a slit lamp biomicroscope.

This is also used to detect any abnormalities or eye diseases, such as dry eyes, cataracts, or narrow angles that could potentially lead to glaucoma.

3. Retina Examination

Our Optometrists uses advanced imaging technology such as a retina camera to examine the back of your eye, including the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels.

This helps detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other eye diseases that may not show noticeable symptoms until they progress.

4. Eye Pressure Test

An essential component of glaucoma screening, the eye pressure test measures the intraocular pressure (IOP) within your eyes.

Elevated pressure could indicate potential risks for glaucoma, making this quick and painless test necessary for early detection and eye health management.

5. Other Diagnostic Tests

In addition, if necessary, we will also perform other specialized diagnostic tests that offer deeper insights into your visual function and eye health.

These tests include (but not exhaustive to): colour vision test, binocular vision assessments (for strabismus/squint), amsler grid examination as well as dry eye tests.

FAQs

The entire process usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the specific tests performed and any additional assessments that may be necessary.

For most adults, it is recommended to have a comprehensive eye examination every one to two years. However, individuals with a family history of eye diseases may need more frequent visits.

Dilation drops will not be used in the examination, which means that you are free to carry on with your daily tasks immediately after and not need someone to accompany you.

Please bring your current glasses or contact lenses, as well as any previous eye prescriptions (if you have them!).

Yes, you can! Please allocate an additional 30-minutes on top of the eye examination to account for spectacle frame and lens selection. :-)
